South Park Drive Improvement Project

Phase 1 (Louisiana to CR 27) and Phase 2 (Quebec Ave to Louisiana Ave)

• Crews will be working on landscaping the median with hydroseeding, plants and trees on Wednesday.
• The final lift of asphalt will be laid down on Friday, August 22 weather permitting.

Phase 3 (East of Quebec Ave to Hwy 13)

• Storm sewer work will continue.
• The removal of curb, gutter, sidewalks and driveways will be worked all week.

The Louisiana Avenue & South Park Drive roundabout will be closed to traffic during the early hours of Friday, August 22 and Monday, August 25 from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. to complete milling and paving of the roundabout.

We have received an update to the traffic control information that was sent out earlier today.

• Phase 3 (East of Quebec Ave to Hwy 13)
  • Revised: Please be aware of traffic control changes beginning on Tuesday, August 12 (not Monday as previously stated):
    • Hwy 13 South Frontage Road to Quebec will be open to Eastbound traffic only through August 17.
    • Phase 3 will be shut down completely beginning August 18 until further notice. Watch for further updates as to when it may open.

Phase 3 (East of Quebec Ave to Hwy 13)

• Crews will begin Storm Sewer work on Monday, August 12. This work will take approximately 2 weeks.
• Please be aware of traffic control changes beginning on Monday, August 12:
  • Hwy 13 South Frontage Road to Quebec will be open to Eastbound traffic only for approximately 2 weeks.
• Once the Storm Sewer work is complete, Phase 3 will then be shut down completely for approximately another 2 weeks.

Monday & Tuesday

• Restoration will begin in boulevards and yards in Phase 1 (Louisiana to CR 27) and Phase 2 (Quebec Ave to Louisiana Ave) in preparation for opening up this area to traffic soon.

Wednesday

• Installation of the 2nd lift of asphalt will take place in Phase 1.

We are having an unexpected delay in Phase 3 due to issues in relocating small utilities. This work will continue until August 11.

Here are your construction updates for next week.

Monday, July 21^st

• Crews will be working on concrete medians and raising of the utility covers for Phase 2 portion of the project (street segment from Quebec Avenue to Louisiana Avenue – roundabout)

Tuesday, July 22^nd

• Paving of the second layer of bituminous pavement will take place for Phase 2. Phase 1 portion of the project (from Louisiana to County Road 27) will see minor work to prepare for paving of the second layer of bituminous pavement. The placement of the second layer of bituminous for Phase 1 is scheduled for Monday, July 28^th.

Wednesday, July 23rd through Friday, July 25th

• Phase 2 portion of the project will see placement of topsoil and preparation for restoration of the impacted areas. Once topsoil placement is complete, the segment of South Park Drive from Quebec to Louisiana will be opened to traffic. Phase 3 portion of the project (Quebec to Highway 13) will continue with utility work.

Construction Update: July 10 - 15

Phase I: (CR 27 to Louisiana Ave)

Yard restoration will continue.

Phase II (Louisiana Ave to East of Quebec Ave):

Thursday, 7/10 – Our crews will be paving the pedestrian trail.

Friday, 7/11 – We'll be placing concrete curb & gutter in the medians. In the event of rain on Friday, the work will be moved to Monday, 7/14 .

Tuesday, 7/15 – Reclaiming of the street will begin along with preparing for laying the first lift of asphalt.

Phase III (East of Quebec Ave to Hwy 13)

Tuesday, 7/15 – Work will begin in Phase III.

Tuesday, 7/15 – Small utilities and fire hydrants will be relocated in preparation for the road construction.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE: The Westbound lane will be temporarily closed from Quebec to Hwy 13. See map.

Phase I - Trail construction

Phase II - Concrete driveway, curb & gutter and sidewalk placement

No work on Friday, July 4.

Phase I

• First lift of asphalt will be laid.
• Prepping & paving trails.
• Continue with irrigation repairs and yard grading.
