    On March 3, 2025, the City Council approved an ordinance to allow owner-occupied short-term rentals, after the issuance of a short-term rental license from the City.

    At the March 3, 2025 Council meeting, the City Council will consider adopting an ordinance to repeal and replace Chapter 103 of the City Code related to short-term rentals, and authorize the publication of the summary ordinance.

    Staff is proposing to allow owner-occupied short-term rentals with conditions. In addition, no owner can operate a short-term rental unit without first obtaining a license from the City. The entire proposed draft can be found under the "Documents" section.

    Staff will be bringing back a revised short-term rental proposed ordinance to the City Council at tonight's Council Worksession meeting. Tonight's meeting is informational and no formal actions will be made or voted on.

    Changes to the proposed ordinance are based on resident feedback and Council input gathered in May 2024 and would allow owner-occupied short-term rentals. The proposed ordinance would also require properties to be licensed with the City.

    Staff will initiate a discussion during tonight's Council Worksession meeting related to short-term rentals. Staff will provide options to consider related to owner-occupied and non-owner occupied short-term rentals, provide research from neighboring cities, and survey data that was collected through Let's Talk Savage.
