The City Council is interested in considering options for allowing short-term rentals such as Airbnb and VRBO. They are also exploring the possibility of licensing short-term rentals. Currently, homeowners are prohibited from renting out their home or a portion of their home for a period of 15 days or less. As part of the analysis, the City Council and staff would like to hear from the residents of Savage. Please take our short survey consisting of only 4 questions to share your opinions.

Staff is proposing to allow owner-occupied short-term rentals with conditions. In addition, no owner can operate a short-term rental unit without first obtaining a license from the City. The entire proposed draft can be found under the "Documents" section.

Tonight's meeting is informational and no formal actions will be made or voted on.
Changes to the proposed ordinance are based on resident feedback and Council input gathered in May 2024 and would allow owner-occupied short-term rentals. The proposed ordinance would also require properties to be licensed with the City.
