On June 1, 2026, City Council adopted a comprehensive update to the zoning code. As part of that update, the C-1 Neighborhood Services District was removed from the code due to its lack of use in the city. Two properties utilized this zoning district:
6100 McColl Drive (Savage Post Office)
14859 Louisiana Avenue South (Former Daycare)
Both properties are proposed to be rezoned to C-2 General Commerce due to both properties being guided as commercial in the Savage 2040 Comprehensive Plan. While this zoning district allows for more commercial uses, many uses that may have increased impacts on neighboring properties have standards that require additional buffers or other mitigation techniques that are required to be installed when a new use occupies the property.
