Consultation has concluded
The City of Savage announces Brady Juell as the new Police Chief.
UPDATE May 13, 2204
The City of Savage City Council has approved 29-year police veteran Brady Juell as the next Police Chief of the city of Savage. Juell will replace Police Chief Rodney Seurer, who is retiring on June 28 after 23 years of service to the community.
Juell is a dedicated and proactive law enforcement leader with specialized training in organizational change, labor management, and emergency management, as well as extensive experience in police training. Most recently, Juell served as the Chief of Police at the City of Elko New Market for the past five years. Juell serves on the Board of Directors for the MN Chiefs of Police Association and is a member of the Scott/Carver Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) Association and the Scott County Justice Steering Committee.
“Brady has a strong sense of justice but understands police officers need to make connections in the community,” said City Administrator Brad Larson. Juell has a proven track record of community involvement, is a member of the Scott County Mental Health Local Advisory Committee, and serves as Board President of Shakopee-based Southern Valley Alliance, which supports survivors of domestic violence.
“I am absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to connect with and build relationships with the outstanding individuals of the Savage Police Department, along with other dedicated professionals who contribute to our city’s success. The prospect of getting to know everyone and learning from their experiences is truly exciting for me,” shared Juell.
Juell’s first day will be June 10, 2024, allowing him to work with Chief Seurer for a couple of weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Police Chief Rodney Seurer is retiring in June 2024 after 23 years of leading the Savage Police Department. We are grateful to Chief Seurer for his decades of service and his steady leadership of the department. As we launch the search for his successor, we will look to the community to help us select someone with great integrity and a passion for public service and who's similarly committed to ensuring Savage remains one of the safest communities in Scott County.
